Dear Air Martinique Customer Service Dept.,


I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent flight experience on your airline from Saint Maarten to Fort-de-France, Martinique. I had heard such rave reviews about Air Martinique and was excited to finally have the opportunity to fly with you. However, my experience was nothing short of a nightmare.


My original outbound flight departed JFK on time and landed in Saint Maarten 15 minutes ahead of schedule. After deplaning, I looked at the flight board to find the gate # for my Air Martinique flight.  I was surprised because rather than indicate on time for delayed, it simply showed “—##^^^^ “. I am not trying to be funny. That is what it showed. After going to the flight desk nobody seemed to have any information. Unfortunately, has it turned out, my flight was delayed for hours with no explanation or compensation for that matter. Did it ever occur to you that communicating with passengers might help ease the tension in the airport. I’ve never been in a situation where the airport personnel appeared to withhold information from the passengers. When they finally decided to give up some sort of update, they told me I would have to fly to Guadeloupe first and connect three before going onto Martinique. We were provided no explanation of why the change in route. Okay fine I thought, I accepted it. Off to Guadeloupe we went. (I should have known better) When we finally arrived in Guadeloupe, things got even more mired. After climbing down those rickety stairs onto the tarmac, I approached the Air Martinique ground agent and asked where I should go for my connecting flight to Martinique. He laughed heartily and pointed at a small plane that had just left the ground before disappearing into the Caribbean night sky. Despite assurances from the gate agent in Saint Maarten, I would make the connection, “no problem” were her exact words, I missed my connecting flight. Of course, that was the last flight to Martinique, and so I had to spend an entire night in an airport that smelled like week-old cheese. And let's not forget the delightful airport staff who seemed to take great pleasure in ignoring my requests for assistance.


Finally, the next morning, when I arrived in Martinique, I was overjoyed to step off plane, and had made the decision to forget about the past 24 hours and put it all behind me. But my joy was short-lived when I discovered that my luggage had been lost.  Its important to mention the reason for my trip to Martinique was to attend a dear friend’s wedding. FORMAL BLACK-TIE WEDDING. The kind of wedding that takes months to find the right dress. Of course, I was informed that my luggage would be located and delivered to me "sometime soon”, but let's be real, I'll probably never see it again. The wedding is tonight. And because this I am wearing the drapes from hotel room. 


I would like to say that my experience with Air Martinique was less than desirable. As I stated previously, I was told your airline was quite good. Suffice to say, I found it to be the opposite. I am eagerly awaiting a response from you with some sort of compensation for the inconvenience and misery that I endured because of this experience.
