Air Senegal
If you lived in Dakar in the 1970’s, Air Senegal offered good options to get around the region. It was alternative to some of the bigger carriers, like Air Afrique of Cameroon Airlines. The airline operated a fleet of mainly French-made aircraft, such as the Sud Aviation Caravelle, the Breguet Br.1150 Atlantic, and the Nord 262.
By 2006 it was revealed the airline had amassed sizeable debt, and despite attempts at restructuring, the airline closed. During its time in operation, Air Senegal played an important role in connecting Senegal to the rest of the world and supporting the country's economic and social development. We salute this legacy airline of Africa.
