Founded in 1927, this unique Balkan carrier was originally known as Jugoslovenski Aerotransport, was one of the oldest airlines in the world until its demise in the beginning of this century. It played a crucial role in the development of air travel in the Balkans and Europe. Over the decades, it became the flag carrier of Yugoslavia, serving as a symbol of Yugoslav aviation prowess and international connectivity. JAT Yugoslav Airlines was known for its innovative and extensive route network, connecting Yugoslavia with various destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. It operated flights to major cities such as London, New York, Moscow, and Tokyo, as well as to numerous destinations in Africa and the Middle East.
