South American Splendor

One of the great South American legacy airlines. Lloyd Aereo Boliviano, also known as LAB Airlines, was the first commercial airline to be established in Latin America. It was founded in 1925 in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and initially operated flights between Cochabamba and La Paz. LAB went on to become the national flag carrier of Bolivia until it ceased operations in 2007. During its more than 80 years of operation, the airline served destinations throughout Bolivia, as well as international destinations in South America, North America, and Europe.

LAB had a colorful history and was known for its distinctive red and white livery, which featured the image of a condor, the national bird of Bolivia. One of its most unusual planes in its fleet was the "Shark 727", which was painted to look like a giant shark.

LAB remains an important part of Bolivia's aviation heritage. The airline was instrumental in establishing air travel in Bolivia and played a key role in connecting the country to the rest of the world. We at Layover Goods salute this wonderful and groundbreaking airline.
