Leopards Zaire Ltd Red Cat
In November 1965, Joseph Desire Mobutu orchestrated a military coup and took control of Congo. By 1971, he had changed the name of the country to Zaire, intending to reflect a new identity and spirit for the nation while promoting his policy of "authenticité," which called for a return to traditional African values and culture. The name "Zaire" was derived from the Kikongo word "nzere," meaning "the river that swallows all rivers.”
